IND vs SA, 2nd Test: Jasprit Bumrah Steamrolls Over South Africa as India Notch Historic Seven-Wicket Win
Producer: Siddarth Sriram
The day started off on a high for India and Bumrah, who removed Bedingham in the first over of the day.
Opener Markram though kept his composure as he played out the rough patch and provided some stability to the SA batting order.
But, that was not the case on the other end as wickets just kept tumbling and Bumrah bagged another fifer, picking off at the SA batters.
In lieu of the same, Markram decided to go on a counter-attack, smashing the Indian bowlers for boundaries galore as he kept the scoreboard ticking for South Africa.
Markram's blitzkrieg ended up with him scoring a sensational 106 in 103 runs, consisting of 17 fours and 2 sixes, before he was removed by Siraj for the breakthrough.
Then, it was easy pickings for India, who bowled SA out for just 176 runs, setting themselves a target of 79 runs to win the Test.
India came out guns blazing and wasted no time in chasing down the target as Yashasvi Jaiswal went on the attack off the first ball of Rabada itself.
Jaiswal's onslaught came to an end and SA regained a bit of composure and picked up three wickets.
But it made no real discernable difference as skipper Rohit Sharma held his own and Shreyas Iyer smacked one down the ground in the end to claim the win.
India tied the series 1-1, and registered the shortest-ever Test match to be played with just 642 balls being bowled.
