7 Do's and Don'ts of Texting for Couples

Texting in a relationship holds the power to enhance or destroy a relationship.

However, those in the modern era who are in a ‘textationship’ need to know about a few rules that can navigate their relationships.

As texting etiquettes are ever-evolving, the concept of dating-texting is an upgrading game that one needs to keep up with from time to time.

There are multiple instances when we have to wait for a longer duration to get a reply. While this can cause many to make unnecessary assumptions, one should not jump to conclusions and instead look for the right reason.

A lack of communication can always lead to gaps in a relationship. It is therefore suggested that one should understand if the level of communication is working for them. If not, then they should work toward improving their communication.

Men and women in a relationship often overthink about who should text first. However, anyone can take that first step, instead of thinking or expecting the other person to do so.

Before engaging in regular texting, it is suggested that couples discuss their preferences early on. This will help to set the tone for healthy communication and also help to avoid confusion or anxiety in the later stages.

One should also avoid overloading texts as it can be a turn-off for many. No one will want to open their phone and find a long line of messages from the same person. It can be suggestive of a clingy character and can also make your date to ghost you.

One should also make sure that they don’t use ambiguous language or leave things up to interpretation. Thus, they should be clear and concise in the messages to avoid any sort of misunderstanding.

One of the golden rules of texting dating is to respond in a timely manner. While there is no need to stress if you don’t find the time to respond right away, you should take care of the same.
