Data reveals 25.86 per cent of the candidates in Mizoram Assembly elections have assets more than Rs 5 crore, while 13.22 per cent have assets less than Rs 10 lakh.
The richest candidate in the Mizoram Assembly election is J B Rualchhinga Lawngtlai from the BJP, who is fielded from the Lawngtlai West constituency. His total assets amount to a staggering Rs 90,32 crore.
The candidate with the least wealth in the run is Ramhlun-Edena, who is running independently in the Serchhip constituency. His total assets are valued at Rs 1,500.
Seven of the 174 candidates in the run to the 40-member Mizoram Assembly have declared criminal cases against themselves.
In Mizoram, 43 (25 per cent) of the candidates have educational qualifications between Class V and XII, whereas 128 (74 per cent) have graduate or higher educational qualifications. Two candidates hold diplomas, while one is illiterate.
Of all the candidates, 19 (11 per cent) are in the 31 to 40 age group. A whopping 105 candidates (60 per cent) fall in the 41 to 60 age group. And 50 candidates (29 per cent) are in the 61 to 80 age group.
Eighteen female candidates are running for the Assembly election in Mizoram, which is about 10 per cent of the total candidates.
Most of the candidates from the MNF party (90 out of 100), Congress party (83 out of 100), and ZPM party (73 out of 100) have declared that they own assets worth more than Rs 1 crore.
The BJP has fewer candidates (only nine out of 23), who have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. The AAP party has the lowest number, with only one out of four candidates having assets over Rs 1 crore.
