Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins recorded the highest-ever partnership for the 8th wicket in World Cup and in ODI cricket history.
The duo's 150-run stand eclipsed former Indian captain, Kapil Dev and Syed Kirmani's record for the highest 8th wicket partnership.
Kapil Dev and Syed Kirmani recorded a 126-run partnership against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup.
In it, Kapil's share was 77.78% (98 runs) and Kirmani's was 19.05% (24 runs). The Maxwell-Cummins duo showed similar performance.
Maxwell's share in the 202 partnership with Cummins was 88.61% (179 runs). It is the highest contribution by a batter in men's ODIs.
Though Cummins scored 12 off 68, he remained not out on the other end and served as a constant support to Maxi's power batting.
The duo standing at no. 2 is also Maxwell and Cummins. Maxwell's share in the 103 partnership vs Netherlands was 88.35% (91 runs).
Hence, Maxi not only broke Kapil Dev's 77.78% run contribution record in ODI, but also bettered his own set record.
