Madhya Pradesh Polls 2023:  The important seats to watch out for

Budhni Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has dominated Budhni since 2006, handily defeating the opposition candidates. This year, Congress has fielded Vikram Mastal, who played Lord Hanuman in the TV show Ramayan, from Budhni.

Chhindwara Chhindwara has been the stronghold of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who boasts a record of nine victories from the Chhindwara seat.

Dimni The election to this seat gets more exciting with the BJP fielding Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar from Dimni Assembly constituency in Morena district. Tomar is viewed as a strong contender for the chief minister's post in the state.

Narsinghpur The BJP has fielded strong OBC leader and Union minister Prahlad Singh Patel from Narsinghpur Assembly constituency.

Indore-1 It would be a fierce contest for the Indore-1 seat. The BJP has fielded prominent leader and national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya to run in Indore-1, a seat currently held by Congress' Sanjay Shukla.

Datia Last time, Rajendra Bharti, a Congress leader, fought hard against the state's incumbent home minister, Dr Narottam Mishra, who has represented the seat since 2008. It will be interesting to see how they contend again.

Lahar Dr Govind Singh, the leader of Opposition in the Assembly, has been undefeated from the Lahar Assembly seat in Bhind district, since 1990. Will he be able to keep the tide going?

Raghogarh Raghoharh in Guna district is the family turf of former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh. Currently, it is represented in the Assembly by Digvijaya Singh’s son and former minister Jaivardhan Singh of the Congress.

Indore-3 Represented by Akash Vijayvargiya, son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, Indore-3 is an important seat to watch for.
