Risk of anaemia

Tea leaves are rich in tannins. Because of it, the iron in the food we take is unable to get digested. So, people with low iron levels already should avoid drinking too much tea. They may be at risk of anaemia.

Risk of anxiety

As the tea leaves contain caffeine, it can become a source of anxiety, stress and restlessness for many. Depending on the type of tea, and the method of brewing, a cup of tea may contain 11 mg to 61 mg of caffeine.

Sleeplessness

Tea could also be bad for your sleep because of caffeine. There is a hormone called melatonin which signals the brain so that a person can fall asleep. However, caffeine can hinder the production of this hormone, which may result in poor sleep cycle.

Risk of nausea

Excessive tea drinking could also be a cause of nausea. If someone drinks a lot of tea on an empty stomach, they may suffer from nausea and it makes them feel that they are about to vomit.

Bad for gut health

Tea is bad for your gut health. It could cause conditions like acidity or heartburn. Some studies state that caffeine affects the sphincter in the esophagus which causes acid reflux, and increases acidity in the stomach.
