In a significant shift from the political landscape since the establishment of Telangana in 2014, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will not be leading the government for the first time.
After trailing the Congress for most of the day, BRS officially accepted defeat. Congress has won 48 seats & is leading in 16 seats, as per ECI data as of 6.50 pm
With Congress all set to form government in the state, take a look at potential chief ministerial candidates.
The frontrunner for the CM's post, 54-year old Reddy is backed by Rahul Gandhi and party president- Mallikarjun Kharge. Establishing a strong connection with the masses & party workers, Reddy's accessibility to people worked in his favor.
One of the prominent Dalit faces of the party, Vikramarka took out a 'People's March' from Madhira to Khammam as an extension of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
A popular figure in the Nalgonda region, Uttam Kumar held the position of TPCC president from 2015 to 2021. One of the senior figures within the TPCC, he is recognised for expressing discomfort with Revanth's leadership.
Other probable CM candidates include Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
