UNICEF Day: Significance and cause

Establishment:  Established on December 11, 1946 by the United Nations General Assembly to provide emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries devastated by World War II

Mandate: UNICEF's mandate is to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs, and to expand their opportunities

Global Reach: UNICEF operates in more than 190 countries and territories, working on the ground to improve the lives of children

Children's Rights: UNICEF is a strong advocate for the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)

Health and Nutrition:  Attempts to improve children's health and nutrition, providing vaccines, medical care, and promoting healthy practices

Education:  UNICEF is committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality education

Water and Sanitation: UNICEF focuses on providing access to clean water and sanitation facilities
