Cabinet Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, an alumnus of Madhav Science College, began his foray into politics during his academic years, ultimately ascending to the position of co-secretary of the student union in 1982.

Known for his proclivity for making controversial statements, Yadav consistently finds himself at the center of media attention. The EC imposed a one-day campaign ban on him in 2020 for employing indecent language during the by-elections.

In 2021, he stirred controversy by opposing a Higher Education Department law prohibiting students with criminal records from college admission, a stance that prompted the subsequent withdrawal of the legislation.

Yadav argued that if political leaders with criminal records could run for elections, students should not be denied admission based on similar grounds.

His financial portfolio, as per the 2018 Assembly elections, reveals assets totaling Rs 31 crore, encompassing bank balances, jewelry, agricultural land, and property.

Dr. Mohan Yadav's political journey is marked by significant milestones:

1982: Co-secretary of the student union

1984: Elected President of the Student Union and City Minister of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad

1989: Appointed minister of the state unit council; became the Minister of National Council in 1991

2002: Elected member of the Executive Council of Vikram University, Ujjain

2013: Won the election from Ujjain South Assembly seat, becoming an MLA
