Countries that don't have an armed force

Costa Rica:  Costa Rica abolished its military in 1948 and is known for its commitment to maintaining a peaceful stance

Iceland:  Iceland does not have a standing army but is a member of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and has a defense agreement with the United States

Mauritius: Mauritius does not have a military force. Security is maintained by the National Police Force and the National Coast Guard

Panama:  Since the abolition of its military in 1989, Panama relies on the Panamanian Public Forces for security, with a focus on law enforcement and humanitarian efforts

Liechtenstein:  This small European principality does not have its own military force. Its defense is the responsibility of Switzerland

Andorra: This landlocked microstate in Europe relies on neighboring countries, primarily France and Spain, for defense

Palau: Palau has no regular military force. Its defense is the responsibility of the United States under the Compact of Free Association
