5 Side Effects of Using Room Heater During Winter

Room heaters offer respite from the winter chill. But there are side effects, too, of using a room heater.

Dry skin

Room heaters reduce humidity levels in the air, leading to dry skin, itchiness and even exacerbating existing skin conditions.

Carbon monoxide poisoning

Fuel-burning heaters, such as those using gas or kerosene, emit carbon monoxide.

Eye irritation

Room heaters with exposed heating elements can emit infrared radiation that can cause skin and eye irritation.

Decreases the moisture content in the air

Using a heater for too long in your room can further deplete the moisture content in the air, making it even drier.

Can lead to fire accidents

Room heaters can lead to potential fire accidents. Make sure that you don’t cover the room heater outlet. It will catch fire instantly. Do not put any polyester clothes near the room heater.
