How To Prepare Korean Rice Water At Home

A traditional beauty secret in Korean skincare culture, rice water is known for its beneficial properties.

All you need for the preparation of this wonder skincare product is a small cup of uncooked rice along with approximately 2 cups of water. It is advisable to opt for natural rice as it provides the best results.

There are multiple ways that one can use the rice water for the skin purpose. You can either cleanse your face twice a day using the same or gently dab it on your face to use it as a toner.

Start by taking the uncooked rice and rinsing it thoroughly under cold running water. Rinsing is done to remove any impurities or surface contaminants from the rice.

Now, take a bowl and place the rice in the same. Add two cups of water to the bowl and let the rice soak for more than 15 minutes. You will witness a cloudy appearance on the bowl.

Once the rice is partially soaked, agitate it by gently rubbing the grains between your fingers. Doing this will release the beneficial nutrients of rice into water. Once done, separate the rice water and rice grains in different bowls.

For enhanced benefits, fermentation is required. All you need to do is leave the strained rice water at room temperature for 24-48 hours which will increase the nutrient content.

Store the rice water in a clean container and put it in the refrigerator to preserve its freshness.
