5 Interesting Facts About West Indies Pacer Shamar Joseph

Shamar Joseph deserves special credit for West Indies’ historic Test win at Gabba. 

The 24-year-old pacer scalped  7 wickets when Australia were chasing 216 runs in the fourth innings. 

Joseph made his international debut in the series opener with a five-wicket haul. 

He got the better of Steve Smith in the very first ball of his Test career. 

Joseph hails from a large family with five brothers and three sisters. 

Before becoming a cricketer, Joseph used to work as a security guard to support his family.

He made his first-class debut for his home team Guyana in February last year. 

Joseph has represented Guyana Amazon Warriors in the 2023 Caribbean Premier League. 

Joseph had featured in only  7 first-class games before his  Test debut. 

He also competed in a three-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI earlier this month.
