Indian batter Prithvi Shaw has been missing from action since injuring his knee in August last year.

Shaw's last game was for Northamptonshire in August, where he sustained the injury while fielding.

He missed two white-ball domestic tournaments, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The 24-year-old has resumed batting normally in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA, Bengaluru.

The NCA and BCCI’s medical unit are supervising Shaw's rehabilitation, aiming for a cautious return to cricket.

Clearance for a multi-day tournament like the Ranji Trophy is deemed highly unlikely due to the rigorous nature of the format.

As per sources, Mumbai, Shaw's domestic team, awaits NCA clearance for his return to competitive cricket.

Raju Kulkarni, chairman of Mumbai's senior selection committee said, “Like with Shardul Thakur, we will wait for the RTP from the NCA (for Shaw) before deciding on a future course of action.”

The focus is on a strategic and safe reentry, prioritizing Shaw's long-term fitness, potentially aligning with shorter formats of cricket.

There are expectations of the young batter's direct participation in the 2024 IPL for Delhi Capitals, after months of hiatus.
