Yes, non-residents of India (NRI) or overseas Indians can enroll as voters in India. They must first register themselves with the Election Commission of India.

Eligibility criteria include that an individual must be at least 18 years old and not acquiring foreign citizenship. Registration can be done online through the official website of the Election Commission.

NRIs can physically fill out Form 6A to enroll as a voter. They need to submit it with the required documents such as passport and visa endorsements.

What are the voting options for NRIs in the elections?

Physical voting at electoral booths If NRIs are present in India, they can vote at the designated electoral booths by registering via Form 6A. They must carry their Voter ID cards and passports.

Proxy Voting NRIs can nominate a relative in India to cast their vote on their behalf.

E-postal Ballot (Remote voting) The govt is working on a project for E-Postal Ballot through a secure online gateway. After its implementation, NRIs can cast their vote remotely akin to voting in the company's AGM.
