Over 4.9 billion people actively engage in social media, showcasing its pervasive presence in our 8 billion+ global population.
Social media users have witnessed a significant surge, soaring from 2.73 billion in 2017 to a staggering 4.9 billion as of June 2023.
India leads the pack with an average of 11.4 social media accounts per person, the highest globally. The United States follows with 7.1 accounts per person, trailed by the UK (6.9), Canada (6.8), and Japan (3.8).
China leads the world with over 1 billion social media users, followed by India with 750+ million, the US with 300+ million, Indonesia with 217+ million, Brazil with 165+ million, and Japan with 100+ million users.
As per Demandsage data, social media activity is higher among men, with 54% actively engaged, while women comprise 46% of the user base.
