Who Is Lady Rose Hanbury?

Princess Catherine, Princess of Wales (Kate Middleton) has stirred controversy with a digitally altered family photograph.

Amid this, Kate's once-close friend Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, is in the headlines for her alleged affair with Prince William, Prince of Wales and Kate's husband.

Here's everything you need to know about Lady Rose Hanbury.

Sarah Rose Hanbury was born on March 15, 1984, into a family with deep-rooted connections to the British royal family. Her maternal grandmother, Lady Elizabeth Lambert, served as one of the bridesmaids at Queen Elizabeth II's wedding.

Educated at the prestigious Stowe School and later at The Open University, Lady Sarah Rose ventured into the world of fashion modelling, represented by Storm Models, and also engaged in political research, working for Conservative MP Michael Gove.

In 2009, her life took a significant turn with her marriage to David Rocksavage, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, bestowing upon her the title of Marchioness.

Sarah Rose and David Rocksavage have three children - twins Alexander and Oliver, and their younger sister Iris.

Their home is a stone's throw from Anmer Hall, making them neighbours of Prince William and Princess Catherine.

In 2019, several reports claimed that Prince William and Sarah Rose Hanbury were involved.

Rumours of an affair between Prince William and Lady Rose Hanbury resurfaced recently after comedian Stephen Colbert joked about it on his late-night show.
