4 Common Kitchen Items That Keep Rodents Away

Dealing with a rodent invasion in your home can be a distressing experience, given their destructive tendencies and potential health hazards.

Here are some household items that can help in warding off these unwanted pests.

Bay Leaf

Commonly used in cooking to enhance flavour, bay leaves, also known as tej patta, are believed to act as a natural deterrent for rodents. Placing them at entry or exit points around your home may help in keeping rats at bay.

Onions

With their pungent and strong aroma, onions serve as another effective remedy for rat problems. Simply cut some onion pieces and position them at various corners of your house to deter rats without causing harm to your property.

Garlic

Known for its robust flavour and scent, garlic is disliked by rats and can be used to repel them from your home. Placing a few cloves of garlic at entry and exit points can help in keeping rats away.

Kerosene Oil

Kerosene oil, also known as mitti ka tel, is known for its potent odour and irritating properties, particularly to rats’ sensitive eyes. By sprinkling a few drops around your house, especially near drains and dustbins, you can create a barrier that rats are unlikely to cross.
