IPL 2024: AR Rahman, Akshay Kumar headline star-studded opening ceremony
As has been the tradition with the cricketing carnival all these years, the 17th season of the IPL was off to a glamorous start with a star-studded opening ceremony in Chennai
Grammy Award-winning music composer AR Rahman, a.k.a. the 'Mozart of Madras', was one of the headline acts for the IPL 2024 opening ceremony in Chennai and performed iconic tracks such as 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff represented Bollywood's star power with the former making quite the dramatic entrance at the start of the event
Iconic singer Sonu Nigam was among the performers in the opening ceremony and also sung the national anthem before the start of the CSK-RCB match
Popular Bollywood singer Mohit Chauhan too joined AR Rahman on the stage and belted out classics such as 'Masakali', composed by the latter
A giant replica of the Indian Premier League trophy made its way to the centre during the IPL 2024 opening ceremony
