With temperatures steadily on the rise and a heatwave-like condition spreading across the country, staying out in the sun may easily cause sunburn. Here are a few easy ways to treat it at home:

1. Cold water

Sunburn, is inflammation of the skin. One of the easiest ways to treat inflammation is to cool down the affected area. An effective way to immediately help sunburn is to take a cold shower.

2. Aloe vera

Aloe vera gel is the sunburn relief most commonly found over the counter. Provides immediate, soothing relief from the sting of minor sunburn.

3. Chamomile tea

Chamomile tea can soothe your sunburned skin. Brew the tea and let it cool. When it’s ready, soak a washcloth in it and apply it to the affected area.

4. Moisturiser

One of the most important things you can do to prevent skin from peeling — or at least keep it to a minimum — is to regularly apply moisturizer to the affected areas.

5. Drink lots of water

As your skin is battling the damage from the sun’s rays, it needs moisture that it lost during your time out in the sun. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day.
