While speaking at a public gathering in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, PM Narendra Modi stated that the BJP has decided to guarantee that those responsible for the Sandeshkhali incidents face consequences to improve the party's chances in the Lok Sabha elections.

In an attack on the Trinamool Congress government, PM Narendra Modi said that only BJP could put an end to crimes against women, despite the party's best efforts to shield those implicated in the state's horrifying Sandeshkhali occurrences.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee made accusations during an election rally in Cooch Behar that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and BSF are following BJP's orders and urged Election Commission to investigate the claims and guarantee that all political parties are treated equally.

Mamata Banerjee also stated that filing for the Citizenship Amendment Act would label an applicant as a foreigner and advised against it, all the while maintaining her refusal to execute the Act in the state.

The prime minister also took aim at the Congress, claiming that although it had been shouting the "Garibi Hatao" slogan for decades, the BJP had actually put forth more effort to lift people out of poverty.
