Campaign Kick-off

The campaign started from Khan Market and INA Market on 8th April, 2024. It focuses on detecting and reducing pesticide residue in food products.

Market Engagement

Market associations and traders were educated about the harmful effects of pesticide residue, especially in fruits and vegetables.

They were also introduced to FSSAI’s “Food Safety on Wheel” mobile lab.

Mobile Lab

The mobile lab is equipped with rapid testing kits that can detect around 50 pesticide residues in various food matrices.

Test results are available within hours, ensuring quick action for food safety.

Trader Encouragement

Traders were encouraged to use this resource for quick testing and to ensure the safety and quality of their products.

They were also educated about the importance of obtaining FSSAI licenses and adhering to food safety standards.

The importance of raw material testing to ensure food safety and quality was emphasised.

Awareness about artificial ripening and wax coating of fruits and vegetables using unapproved chemicals was created.
