How to enrol as an Overseas/NRI elector

Online: Fill Form 6A online at https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/. Upload the requisite proofs. Offline: Fill Form 6A in 2 copies, available free of cost in Indian Missions.

List of documents required with Form 6

- One passport-size coloured photo. - Self-attested photocopy of passport containing photo, India address and others - Valid visa endorsement.

How you can submit form 6

- Self attest each document if sending by post. - Submit in person at the Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant ERO of the seat. - The original passport should be produced for verification.

Verification process

- Booth Level Officer visits the home address mentioned in the passport. - If no one is available at the address, documents are sent to the concerned Indian Mission for verification.

- The decision is communicated by post on the address or SMS on the mobile number. - Electoral rolls are also on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer. - The name of an NRI voter is included in a separate section for "Overseas Electors".

How to update address

- Fill Form 8 online. - Submit it to the ERO of the area of the new residence.

How to vote

An NRI will be allowed to vote at the polling station after showing original passport.
