Not just 8 hours, you need to sleep at the right time too

"Good sleep plays an important role in controlling sugar levels," said Dr David Chandy of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in an interview to CNBC-TV18’s Ekta Batra.

Dr Chandy mentioned that sleep is often the most neglected aspect of managing diabetes.

However, he added that there has been significant research in the past five years on the correlation of sleep and diabetes.

"Good sleep helps reduce the stress hormones called adrenaline and cortisol, thus controlling sugar levels," he said.

He further emphasised the importance of maintaining a consistent sleep schedule.

According to Dr Chandy, the ideal time to sleep is 10 pm, with waking up around 5:30-6:00 am.
