“Reasonable amount of fat is safe,” said Dr. David Chandy of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in an interview with CNBC-TV18’s Ekta Batra.
Dr. Chandy mentioned that our oil consumption cannot be zero, as some hormones are produced from cholesterol.
He suggested that a reasonable amount of fat would be less than half a liter of oil per person per month for a family.
Regarding ghee (clarified butter), he recommended less than 1 teaspoon per person per day.
He further explained that this amount of oil is sufficient for the production of oil-related hormones.
