Lok Sabha Election 2024: Key Candidates in Phase 1

The first phase of the Lok Sabha election 2024 is starting today, April 19, 2024, and will end on June 1, 2024. The results will be announced on June 4.

 In the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, 21 states and union territories will go to polls.

The states and union territories where the elections will be held in the first phase are Arunachal Pradesh (2 seats), Assam (5 seats), Bihar (4 seats), Chhattisgarh (1 seat), Madhya Pradesh (6 seats), Maharashtra (5 seats), Manipur (2 seats), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (1 seat), Nagaland (1 seat), Rajasthan (12 seats), Sikkim (1 seat), Tamil Nadu (39 seats), Tripura (1 seat), Uttar Pradesh (8 seats), Uttarakhand (5 seats), West Bengal (3 seats), Andaman and Nicobar (1 seat), Jammu and Kashmir (1 seat), Lakshadweep (1 seat) and Puducherry (1 seat).

Here are some key candidates in Phase 1 of Lok Sabha Election 2024.

Nitin Gadkari (Nagpur-Maharashtra) The Union road transport and highways minister is eyeing his third consecutive victory from the Nagpur constituency.

Jitin Prasada (Pilibhit-Uttar Pradesh) He made a significant political move by shifting his allegiance to the BJP from Congress. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, he previously won elections from the Shahjahanpur and Dhaurahara constituencies on the Congress ticket. Now, he is contesting from Pilibhit.

Tamilisai Soundararajan (South Chennai-Tamil Nadu) Former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan representing the BJP. She is contesting from Chennai South.

K Annamalai (Coimbatore-Tamil Nadu) Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president K. Annamalai stands as a formidable candidate in Coimbatore. The 39-year-old became the youngest BJP president in Tamil Nadu in 2021.

Dayanidhi Maran (Chennai Central-Tamil Nadu) Dayanidhi Maran is representing Chennai Central. Earlier, he had won the constituency in 2004, 2009 and 2019.

Nakul Nath (Chhindwara-Madhya Pradesh) Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath’s elder son Nakul Nath is contesting from Chhindwara.

Imran Masood (Saharanpur-Uttar Pradesh) He represents the Congress-SP alliance and seeks to champion the aspirations of Saharanpur's constituents.

Jitendra Singh (Udhampu-Jammu and Kashmir) A two-term MP and Union minister Jitendra Singh is fighting the electoral battle in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur constituency.

Kiren Rijiju (Arunachal West constituency-Arunachal Pradesh) Kiren Rijiju, a three-time MP and Union minister of earth sciences is contesting from the Arunachal West constituency. 

Gaurav Gogoi (Jorhat-Assam) Congress's Gaurav Gogoi is the son of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi. He has established himself as a two-time winner of the Lok Sabha elections since 2014.
