Among all G20 nations, rankings of Indian universities improved the most, with an increase by 14% year-over-year.

India has become world's fourth-largest in terms of research output with an increase of 54% in research output between 2017 and 2022.

These are findings shared by the London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in partnership with Times Higher Education (owned by the British magazine).

· The rankings attribute part of India’s improvement to the National Education Policy brought in 2020.

· India now ranks prominently across 44 out of the 55 QS Subject Rankings.

Indian universities stood out, particularly in computer science, chemistry, biological sciences, business studies, and physics.

The Institutes of Eminence (IoE) contributed 47 of the 69 Indian university positions within the top-100 in any of the subject rankings.

Among all Asian countries, India is only behind China in the number of featured universities in the QS Subject Rankings.
