All you need to know about international dance day

Every year on April 29, International Dance Day is observed. It was founded by the International Theatre Institute's (ITI) Dance Committee, which is UNESCO's primary performing arts partner.

International Dance Day was established to honour dance as an art form and to raise awareness of its significance on a global scale. The day was selected to honour the birthday of French dancer and ballet teacher Jean-Georges Noverre, who is sometimes cited as the father of modern ballet.

International Dance Day is an international celebration of movement and expression as a universal language. It was founded by the International Theatre Institute to recognise dance's artistic merit, cultural variety, and transforming potential while bringing people from all over the world together.
