Eric Clapton’s acoustic guitar, used to compose “Wonderful Tonight”, is up for auction with a guide price of up to $500,000.

Clapton’s Classic

The guitar bears distinguishing marks, including burns on the headstock from Clapton’s cigarettes.

Marked by History

Acquired in the mid-1970s, Clapton used this guitar during his time with The Yardbirds, Cream, and as a solo artist.

Proven Heritage

The guitar was used to compose “Wonderful Tonight”, a hit song about model Pattie Boyd.

Song of Love

The 1974 000-28 Martin acoustic has a sticker reading “She’s in Love with a Rodeo Man”, a nod to country star Don Williams.

Country Connection

The guitar, previously sold in 1999, will be auctioned at Bonhams’s London Knightsbridge saleroom on June 12.
