IPL 2024: Playoffs Qualification Scenarios After RR's Loss vs PBKS

Kolkata Knight Riders (with 19 points) have qualified for the playoffs. With RR's loss to PBKS, KKR will finish the IPL league stages as the table-toppers ensuring their place in Q1, and two chances to reach the final.

Even though Rajasthan Royals are assured of a playoff berth, another loss in their last game against KKR will push them down the points table and they will have to play the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 to make the final.

Chennai Super Kings must win their final game against RCB and seal the playoff spot by reaching the 16 points. If they lose, they need to ensure the margin is narrow (less than 18 runs if RCB post 200 or not concede defeat before 18.1 overs if defending 200).

Sunrisers Hyderabad can make it to Q1 if they win both their remaining games and if RR lose to KKR. If SRH win one, even then they will be through to the playoff. If SRH lose both games, their NRR and that of CSK and RCB's might come into consideration.

Delhi Capitals finished the league stage with 14 points. They hope for RCB's loss to CSK, so that RCB do surpass them and then hope SRH to lose both their games by big margins so that it pushes their NRR below DC’s.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru would need to beat CSK by more than 18 runs (if they score 200) in their final match, to get their NRR over CSK’s. If SRH do not cross 14 points, both RCB and CSK can qualify.

With one game remaining, Lucknow Super Giants can get only to 14 points. Due to LSG's poor NRR it is unlikely that they will be able to surpass DC, RCB, CSK, and SRH – all of whom could also end on 14 points.

Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans are officially out of the IPL 2024 playoff race, standing at 9th, 10th, and 8th spots in the points table, respectively.
