RR vs RCB Eliminator: Virat Kohli Becomes First Player To Score 8000 Runs in IPL History

Rajasthan Royals put an end to Royal Challengers Bengaluru's 6-match winning streak on Wednesday's (May 22) Eliminator.

RCB posted a decent total of 172/8 after being put to bat first. Their in-form opener Virat Kohli made 33 runs off 24 balls.

With that, Kohli became the first batter in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to score 8000 runs.

He needed just 29 runs to cross the landmark and is currently the leading run scorer of tournament history with 8004 runs from 252 matches, including 8 tons.

Reaching 8000+ runs, he widened the gap between his tally of runs and Shikhar Dhawan’s, the second-highest run-getter with 6769 to his name.

The former RCB skipper was good going in the Eliminator game, until he was caught in the deep by substitute fielder Donovan Ferreira off the bowling of Yuzi Chahal.

Just like Virat, no RCB batter could reach the 40-run mark. Rajat Patidar was their top-scorer with 34 runs off 22 balls.

However, they still managed to set a 172- run total, but RR chased it down in 19 overs, winning the match by 4 wickets.
