T20 World Cup 2024: 6 youngsters poised for T20 WC debut to keep an eye on

The young Indian opener made his international debut last year during a Test match against the West Indies in the Caribbean. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal is attunted to T20 cricket. The left-handed opener has played close to 100 T20 matches and scored 2757 runs. To his credit he holds the record of the fastest fifty of the IPL, which he scored in only 13 balls during 2023 IPL.

Shamar Joseph made headlines during the West Indies' tour of Australia late last year. The fast bowler showcased his talent as he bowled a match-winning spell of 8/124 in Brisbane. The 24-year-old is known to bowl at great pace. His talent was quickly spotted by IPL outfit LSG who signed him as a replacement of Mark Wood. Although Joseph did not get much gametime during IPL 2024, he can be handful in familar conditions.

England powerhitter Will Jacks is making his name in T20 cricket with centuries in SAT20, BPL and IPL in recent months. The world took notice of Jack's ball-hitting abilities when he blasted the fifth fastest IPL hundred while playing for RCB in the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League. Jacks can also double up as a off-spinner. The 25-year-old fits perfectly in the mold of aggresive cricket that England likes to play.

Matheesha Pathirana's bowling action reminds the world of legendary pacer Lasith Malinga. Since making his T20I debut for Sri Lanka in 2022, the 21-year-old has played only 6 matches. However, the pacer is now a regular in the IPL where he plays for CSK. Pathirana has been polishing his T20 game under the tutelage of MS Dhoni for two seasons now. Pathirana has picked 34 wickets in 20 IPL matches. Watchout for his yorkers!

Gerald Coetzee is taking giant strides in cricket. The South African fast bowler caught the world's attention during the 2023 ODI World Cup where he picked 20 wickets and was tournament's fourth-highest wicket-taker. Following his exploits in the World Cup, he was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 5 cr. Although MI flopped during IPL 2024, the pacer had a good season as he claimed 13 wickets in 10 outings. Coetzee is known to bowl at a great pace and can rattle the best of the batters on his day!

Rachin Ravindra had a blockbuster campaign during the 2023 ODI World Cup in which he hammered 578 runs, the most by a New Zealand batter in a debut World Cup. Ravindra's exploits got him play IPL 2024 as he was signed by CSK for Rs  1.8 cr. Although Ravindra had a subdued IPL campaign as he accumulated 222 runs in 10 matches. But Ravindra is known as a player for the big moments. The Kiwi is also a handy left-arm off spinner and a brilliant fielder. Although Ravindra has been playing T20 cricket for New Zealand since 2021 but the 2024 T20 World Cup will be his first T20 World Cup.
