World Milk Day: 10 different milks and their benefits

Cow’s milk is the original milk packed with protein, carbohydrates and fat. It is a great source of nutrients like calcium, vitamin B12, and potassium. 

Soy milk is a popular unsweetened milk, which has a similar nutrition profile to cow’s milk. 

Almond milk is typically fortified with nutrients like calcium and vitamin D. 

Coconut milk is slightly lower in calories, has nearly no protein, and has ample of vitamin B12 and vitamin D.

The popular oat milk is comparable in calories, fat and carbs to two per cent reduced-fat cow’s milk and soy milk. 

Hemp milk is not as popular as other types of milk, but is a great source of iron, fibre, and vitamin A. 

Rice milk is a grain-based milk which mimics the nutrition of cow’s milk and offers a better alternative to dairy- and nut-free beverage. 

Cashew milk is creamy and has a distinct nutty flavour. It is packed with calories and has little protein. 

Pea milk is a nut-free alternative for those allergic to soy or other nut-based milk. With a mild and toasty flavour, it has ample of healthy fat and about eight grammes of protein in one cup. 

Pistachio milk is an expensive purchase but is packed with carbs, healthy fats and protein.
