The West Indies are off to a winning start as they beat Papua New Guinea to win by 5 wickets, 1 over to spare at Guyana's Providence Stadium on Sunday.
However, the win did not come easily with the PNG bowlers putting up a stellar fight having to defend just 138 runs.
Brandon King's 34 (29) gave the Windies a decent start. But then the early wicket of Johnson Charles got them struggling.
Then Roston Chase's 42 (27) and Nicholas Pooran's 27 (27) brought them back in the chase.
After Chase's dismissal, PNG hoped of a possible game-changing scene, but Andre Russell's late heroics of 15 off 9 saved the day for West Indies.
Earlier, PNG's Sese Bau put up 50 off 43 for his side, helping them reach 136. KipKiplin Doriga and skipper Assad Vala also chipped in with 20+ runs.
Skipper Vala also contributed by taking two wickets, conceding 28 runs in four overs.
