Apple announced new features coming to iPhones via iOS 18 and the company's AI-powered intelligence system called "Apple Intelligence" at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10, 2024. Here's a look at the top 10 upcoming features in iOS 18.
With iOS 18, users will be able to customize their home screen in various ways. They can put app icons and widgets anywhere on the home screen grid. Turning the iPhone on dark mode, which now changes app icons. The users can change the colour of the home screen.
The Messages app will have new features. Scheduled messages, emoji tapbacks, and text effects were announced as improvements to the Message app. The text effects will allow users to visually amplify their messages.
With Apple Intelligence, users will be able to create custom "Genmoji" to match any moment. The users need to provide a description and a Genmoji will appear. Genmojis can also be added inline in messages.
Photos are getting its biggest redesign ever as the app will now be unified to a single view. Filter options are coming to the app. A collections feature is now included and will allow users to browse through customizable sections.
The Mail app will be able to separate emails into sections to make users' inboxes more organised. The incoming email is separated into, Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions.
The Passwords app will make it easier for users to store and access their passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes. It will also tell the users if their passwords are weak or have been used multiple times.
Due to Apple Intelligence, Siri will be more advanced now. It can answer thousands of questions when users want to know how to do something on their Apple devices. The users can take action when something new appears on the screen.
The new Siri allows for text-based questions and prompts, and you double-tap the bottom of the screen to get that option. The new Siri will be more forgiving for those who don’t speak perfectly.
