Nicholas Pooran Surpasses Chris Gayle to be WI's Most Prolific Six-hitter in T20Is

Nicholas Pooran smashed 36 runs in an over off Azmatullah Omarzai during the West Indies vs Afghanistan Group C T20 World Cup 2024 match on June 18.

Pooran hit 6 sixes and a pair of fours in the Afghan seamer's second over during the Powerplay at Saint Lucia.

It was only the second time in Men's T20 World Cup history when a batter amassed 36 runs in an over.

The first one was Yuvraj Singh's 6 sixes off Stuart Broad in India's victorious final T20 World Cup 2007 match vs England.

In Tuesday's match, Pooran surpassed Chris Gayle’s 124 sixes record to be WI's most prolific six-hitter in T20Is.

Pooran currently has 128 sixes to his name, after his stellar match-winning knock of 98 (53).

He stands at no. 5 in the all-time list of most sixes in T20 Internationals.
