5 Desi Shorba Recipes Perfect for Monsoon 

Shorba is a term used to refer to a type of soup or broth. Here are five desi shorba recipes that are perfect for monsoon.

 Mutton Shorba

Heat ghee in a pot or pressure cooker, and add cumin seeds, cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and bay leaves. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add the ginger-garlic paste, chopped tomatoes, and spices, and cook till they turn soft. Add the mutton pieces and sauté them. Add curd and cook for some time. Add water and cook for 20 to 30 minutes.

Dal Shorba

Pressure cook yellow moong dal until soft. Heat ghee in a pot and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chopped onions, green chillies, and ginger-garlic paste. Add chopped tomatoes and other spices. Add the dal to this and simmer it for 15 minutes. 

Palak Shorba

Heat some oil in a pot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chopped onions, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, and potatoes, and cook for a few minutes. Now, add tomatoes, spinach, spices and water. Simmer the soup for a few minutes till the potatoes are tender. 

Yakhni Shorba  

Dry roast and blend cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon sticks in a pan. Heat some ghee in a pan, add bay leaves, chopped onions, minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Add mutton or chicken pieces and cook for a while. Add chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and ground black pepper. After 2-3 minutes, pour in water to the pot and bring it to a boil. Whisk curd in a bowl and add it to the pot.

Beetroot Shorba

Heat some oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, and cloves to it. Now, add chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste, and grated beetroots to the pot and cook for a while. Add turmeric powder, salt, and spices. Pour water into the pot and bring to a boil. After 20 to 30 minutes, remove bay leaf, cinnamon sticks, and cloves from the shorba. Stir in the whisk curd and pour it into the pot.
