International Yoga Day: 7 yoga poses to beat migraines amid heatwave

Child's Pose (Balasana) This helps to relax and relieve the tension in the back, neck, shoulders and other areas generally affected by migraines.

Supine Twist (Supta Matsyendrasana) Supine Twist helps to release tension in the spine and back muscles, which can often contribute to migraine discomfort. This pose promotes spinal mobility and encourages relaxation.

Forward Fold (Uttanasana) The Forward Fold eases pressure on the neck, shoulders, and upper back, which are common areas of discomfort during migraines. It also encourages blood flow to the brain, potentially alleviating headache symptoms.

Legs up the wall This pose encourages blood flow from the legs back towards the heart and brain, promoting relaxation and reducing inflammation.

Corpse pose (Savasana) By allowing the body and mind to enter a state of complete rest, the corpse pose reduces tension in the muscles and alleviates mental fatigue, both of which are common triggers for migraines.

Cycling yoga pose (Pada Sanchalanasana) This pose benefits the muscles of the lower back, abs, feet and ankles, and hamstrings. It increases flexibility in hips and knee joints.

Camel pose (Ustrasana) This position opens up the chest, belly and quadriceps. It also helps to improve posture and relieve hernia.
