Roof Collapse at Delhi Airport A tragic incident unfolded early Friday at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 (T1) as heavy rain triggered the collapse of its roof canopy. The collapse resulted in one fatality and injuries to six others.

Flight Disruptions Following the roof collapse, flight operations at T1 have been halted. Flights originally scheduled for T1 are now being diverted to T2 and T3 to ensure minimal disruption to air travel.

Minister’s Terminal Inspection Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu conducted an onsite assessment at the airport, ordering a comprehensive inspection of all airport structures to prevent future incidents.

Compensation Announcement Minister Naidu announced financial compensation in response to the incident: Rs 20 lakh will be provided to the family of the deceased, and Rs 3 lakh to each injured individual as immediate relief.

Terminal Operations Terminal 1 primarily handles domestic flights operated by IndiGo and SpiceJet. With approximately 1,400 daily flight movements, the terminal is crucial for domestic air travel from Delhi.
