How Many Times Have T20 World Cup 2024 Champions- India Won ICC World Cups?

India has previously featured in 13 ICC title matches, winning on five occasions and losing five.

With their Men's T20 World Cup 2024 win against South Africa, the Rohit Sharma-led side ended their 11-year long ICC title drought.

It was their second World T20 title, following their Dhoni-led inaugural edition win in 2007 by defeating Pakistan by just five runs in a nail-biting final.

India also have two ODI World Cup titles to their name. The first one was in 1983 when skipper Kapil Dev's 175* helped thrash West Indies by 43 runs.

In 2002, India shared win with Sri Lanka in 2002 but got the better of them in 2011. India beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets, powered by Gambhir's 97 and MSD's 91 runs.

As for World Test Championship, India have made it to the finals twice — in 2021 and 2023 — but ended the matches with losses.

The 2024 T20 World Cup victory gave the Indian greats- Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma a fairytale ending to their T20I career. They made the retirement announcement post their win on Saturday. 

Before 2024, India have last won an ICC title in 2013 Champions Trophy. In the match, they beat England by just 5 runs at Birmingham, powered by Jadeja's 33* (25) & 2/24.
