Heel of Italy

Images shows a section of Italy’s heel in the southern part of the boot-shaped peninsula. The area featured comprises part of the Puglia region at the top, and part of Basilicata in the bottom left and is bound by the Adriatic Sea (top) and Ionian Sea (bottom).

Grand Bahama Island

A view of west of Grand Bahama Island, in the Bahamas. Located in the Atlantic Ocean about 100 km east of the US state of Florida, Grand Bahama is the northernmost island in the Bahamas and the third largest in the archipelago.

Ram Setu (Adam’s Bridge)

A view of Ram Setu - a chain of shoals linking India and Sri Lanka. It stretches 48 km between Rameswaram Island, off the southeast coast of India, and Mannar Island, off the northwest coast of Sri Lanka.

Resembling a reddish jellyfish, a view of the Mahajamba Bay in Madagascar. Located in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa and covering almost 600 000 sq km, Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world.

Changing Iceland in colour

A view of Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula. This false-colour image is made up of three separate radar images, acquired a month apart in 2024. Each image has been given a different colour: red for January, green for February and blue for March.

Bolivian salt lakes

This image features salt flats and lakes in southwest Bolivia, near the crest of the Andes Mountains. Acquired in April 2024, this false-colour image shows part of the Oruro Department towards the southern end of the Altiplano, a high plain that stretches almost 1000 km from Peru to Bolivia.

Namibian landforms

This image shows the stunning terrain of northwest Namibia. The Ugab River, visible as a winding, white line cutting through the centre of the image, clearly marks the border between Kunene (to the north) and Erongo.
