Possible increase in police custody period from 15 days to 60-90 days, courts could deny bail for whole of judicial custody period.

Under CrPC, bail can be allowed when the under trial is in jail for half of the max term. The BNSS does not allow this relaxation in case of multiple charges.

Wide powers to police for attachment of assets without comprehensive safeguards.

Sedition removed. Treason introduced. With harsher punishment.

Adultery has been removed as criminal offence. But new code punishes for "whoever takes or entices wife of any other man"

No recognition to marital rape.

New code overlaps with FSSAI Act, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Juvenile Justice Act and MV Act. Room for confusion and overlap.
