Sunak emphasized that he had given his all to the job.

He acknowledged that the public had sent a clear signal that a change in the government was needed

Sunak stated that the public's judgement is the only one that matters

He acknowledged and took responsibility for the loss, mentioning he had heard the public's anger and disappointment

"To the country, I would like to say first and foremost, I am sorry," Sunak said

"I have given this job my all, but you have sent a clear signal that the government of the United Kingdom must change. And yours is the only judgement that matters."

"I have heard your anger, your disappointment, and I take responsibility for this loss," he added
