Ingredients 1 cup of dalia 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 cup of green peas 1/2 cup soaked moong dal 2 teaspoons ghee 1 pinch of asafoetida 1 chopped tomato 1 grated carrot 4 cups of water Salt to taste
Begin by toasting the dalia in a pan. Heat a teaspoon of ghee in a pan and add the dalia. Roast it for 2-3 minutes until you can smell its nutty aroma.
In a pressure cooker, add a spoon of ghee and let it heat. Add cumin seeds and allow them to crackle for a minute. Next, add the asafoetida and ginger paste, and sauté briefly.
Add the chopped tomatoes, mix well, and cook until the tomatoes turn soft.
Now, add the green peas, grated carrots, turmeric, and salt according to your taste into the cooker. Mix thoroughly and cook for about 2 minutes.
Once everything is nicely cooked, add the soaked moong dal and water. Give it a good stir, close the lid of the pressure cooker, and cook for 3 whistles.
Your flavorful and nutritious vegetable dalia is now ready to be enjoyed. Serve this wholesome porridge with some yoghurt, pickles, or a side salad, and relish a hearty meal.
