Ingredients: • 1 cup semolina (suji) • 1 cup sugar • 1 cup water • 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter) • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder • 1/2 teaspoon saffron threads (optional)

Heat 1/4 cup ghee in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add 1 cup semolina and saute for 2-3 minutes, until fragrant.

Add  sugar, water, cardamom powder, and saffron (optional). Stir well.

Boil the mixture, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the halwa thickens.

Serve hot! Garnished with chopped nuts or dried fruit (if desired).
