In ODIs, Gaikwad was last seen in action against South Africa at Gqeberha last year.
Sanju Samson is another big name who missed out on the ODI squad.
In his last ODI, Samson had scored a match-winning century against South Africa.
Ravindra Jadeja has also not been named in the ODI squad.
The star all-rounder last played ODIs at the World Cup Final against Australia in 2023.
Players like Rinku Singh, Rajat Patidar and Tilak Varma are also not in the ODI squad.
The ODI series against Sri Lanka will mark Rishabh Pant’s comeback to the 50-over format.
India will face Sri Lanka in a 3-match ODI series from August 2 to August 7.
The ODI series will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
