Champions Trophy 2025: Hasan Ali, Wasim Akram and PCB Officials' Remark on India's Refusal To Play in Pakistan

The 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.

Due to safety concerns, BCCI is reluctant to send Team India to play in the tournament in the neighbouring country.

As a reaction, pacer Hasan Ali made a strong remark saying, "If India doesn’t want to come, we’ll play without them."

Legendary former cricketer Wasim Akram  said, “Pakistan needs that tournament for the betterment of cricket...I feel that cricket and politics should be separate."

Akram highlighted the enhanced cricketing facilities in Pakistan currently and hopes that like other teams, India agrees to play there too.

Former PCB chairman Khalid Mahmood thinks there are slim chances of India travelling to Pakistan. If that happens, countries like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh might also back out.

A recent report by Geo News Urdu said that Pakistan is threatening to boycott T20 World Cup 2026 if India refuses to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy.

With the Champions Trophy issue being a serious concern, it might be brought up by BCCI secretary Jay Shah and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi at ICC's Annual General Meeting on July 25.
