From Morarji Desai to Nirmala Sitharaman, finance ministers who have delivered most budgets

Morarji Desai  Desai holds the record for the most budget presentations among Indian finance ministers.  He has presented the budget 10 times during his career as a finance minister as well as prime minister. 

P Chidambaram Chidambaram is the second finance minister on the list. He has presented the budget nine times during his tenure in the 1990s and early 2000s. His budget showcased a commitment to economic reforms and fiscal consolidation.

Pranab Mukherjee Former President Pranab Mukherjee presented the budget eight times. He is a veteran of Indian politics. He managed to navigate the economic challenges in the 1980s, 2009 and 2012.

CD Deshmukh Chintaman Dwarkanath Deshmukh presented the budget seven times. He began his career in the Indian Civil Service and became the first Indian to serve the position of Governor of RBI. 

Manmohan Singh Singh is an acclaimed economist who is credited with bringing liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation to the country. He also served as a finance minister under Narasimha Rao and presented the budget six times.

Nirmala Sitharaman Sitharaman has presented the budget six times including the interim budget earlier in the year. This will be her seventh budget presentation.

YB Chavan He delivered the interim budget for the fiscal year 1971-72 and subsequently presented the final budgets for the four consecutive years. He assumed the role of finance minister in 1971.
