Paris Olympics 2024: Manu Bhaker Wins Bronze, Ends 12-Year Olympic Drought in Shooting

Manu Bhaker clinched India's first medal at Paris Olympics 2024, by winning a bronze in Women’s Air Pistol event.

With that, July 28 (Sunday) marked India's 12-year Olympic medal drought in shooting came to an end.

She finished her run after 22 shots, scoring 221.7, falling just 0.1 short of making it to the second spot.

S. Korea’s Ye Jin Oh and Kim Yeji both overtook Bhaker, pushing her to third place by the end of the five-shot series.

Manu Bhaker created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting.

The 22-year-old took to X to dedicate her bronze medal to her country, "for their incredible support and love".

“Winning this medal is a dream come true, not just for me but for everyone who has supported me," she wrote on X.

Thanking her parents, coach, and others, she wrote “It’s a teamwork always. And I’m really grateful that I was the medium to win this medal for India.”
