Cold Vibes: 10 reasons why you shouldn't sit in the AC for long

Illness and fatigue  Have you been shivering in your office? This might be the reason for your tiredness. As per research, people who work in extreme air-conditioned environments may experience chronic headaches and fatigue. It also leads to breathing difficulties.

Dry skin  Long hours spent in air-conditioned environments cause your skin to lose moisture. This requires a constant use of moisturisers.

Inability to deal with heat Those who spend a lot of time in air-conditioned offices become increasingly more intolerant of hot summer temperatures. This is mainly caused by the stress on your body from moving from a cool environment to the sweltering outdoor air.

Muscle stiffness Sleeping in a cold room with the AC on can cause muscle stiffness and joint pain. The low temperatures can cause muscles to contract and tighten, leading to discomfort.

Weak immune system Sleeping with the AC all night may increase the risk of respiratory infections. The cold air weakens the body's immune system response. Prolonged exposure can also constrict blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing the body's ability to fend off pathogens.

Allergies  Being in an AC room can worsen your already present allergies. AC units circulate allergens like dust, pollen, mould, and pet dander. This can worsen sneezing, congestion, runny nose, and itchy eyes.

Dehydration The cool environment reduces our body's natural cooling mechanism -- sweating. You feel less thirsty. This, coupled with the increased water loss due to the dry air, can lead to an increased risk of dehydration.

Asthma Air conditioners are not cleaned regularly. The bad air can lead to several breathing issues. It is awful for people suffering from asthma.
